Asset Manager

Department: Operations

Reporting to: Senior Managers

Salary: Subject to experience

Location: Stockton

The Asset Manager will be responsible for the performance, maintenance planning, and long-term value optimisation of a portfolio of anaerobic digestion (AD) plants. This role ensures operational efficiency, maximises asset value, manages risks, and supports continuous improvement in plant performance across the portfolio.

    • Asset Performance Management

      • Monitor and analyse performance KPIs (e.g., gas output, feedstock efficiency, downtime).

      • Identify underperforming assets and drive performance recovery plans.

      • Support the implementation of optimisation strategies across the portfolio.

    • Maintenance & Lifecycle Planning

      • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance strategies.

      • Develop long-term asset lifecycle plans to optimise uptime and budget usage.

      • Coordinate with site teams to schedule major overhauls and equipment replacements.

    • Budget & Financial Oversight

      • Assist in the preparation and management of OPEX and CAPEX budgets.

      • Track expenditure against budget and justify major capital projects.

      • Deliver financial reporting and asset valuation input to senior management.

    • Compliance & Risk Management

      • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, health & safety regulations, and industry standards.

      • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for critical assets.

      • Maintain robust asset registers and documentation for audit readiness.

    • Stakeholder Coordination

      • Liaise with operational team, engineers, commercial teams, and external contractors.

      • Manage relationships with equipment suppliers, insurers, and regulatory bodies.

      • Support commercial discussions on feedstock supply and digestate outlets as they relate to asset performance.

    • Project Support & Development

      • Contribute to upgrade, repowering, and expansion projects.

      • Assist in technical due diligence for acquisitions or disposals of AD assets.

      • Provide input on asset integration strategies during M&A processes.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

    • Proven experience managing industrial or energy assets, preferably in renewable energy or waste sectors. 

    • Understanding of anaerobic digestion processes and plant components.

    • Strong analytical and reporting skills; ability to interpret technical and financial data.

    • Knowledge of asset lifecycle principles, preventative maintenance, and CMMS systems.

    • Familiarity with environmental and HSE regulations related to AD plants.

Plant Manager

Department: Operations

Reporting to: Senior Operations Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Location: Bangley Biogas, Bangley Quarry, Haddington, EH41 3SP

This role will to take responsibility for the daily operation and maintenance of the plant.  Reporting directly to the Senior Managers of BioConstruct NewEnergy Ltd this is a hands-on role both managing and working as an integral part of a small team of operational staff. 

The Plant Manager will be the senior person on site and will be responsible for the safe and profitable operation of the plant. Key to this will be maintaining effective relationships with the key client, with maintenance and technical contractors, and with external agencies and key stakeholders.

  • HSE

    • Ensure HSE policies and procedures are implemented and enforced

    • Report, investigate and implement actions and lessons arising from any HSE failings

    • Define and implement improvements and corrective actions to HSE policies and procedures 

    • In cooperation with external/internal HSE adviser, conduct regular audits of HSE compliance and implement identified changes and corrective actions arising from audits.

    Operations

    • Ensure plant operations are conducted according to laid-down operational procedures, EA permit conditions, planning conditions, ABPR regulations and licence, pest control requirements, waste movement regulations etc.

    • Ensure daily site checks and routines are maintained to ensure the site remains both compliant with EPR (Permit) and maintains operational performance.

    • Direct and supervise workforce, ensure workforce is adequately trained and resourced.

    • Ensure plant performance is optimised and monitored and Identify changes, improvements, and other amendments required to existing operational procedures and implement.

    • Ensure adequate biological monitoring regime (sampling etc.) is in place and interface with contractors to ensure adequate oversight and that corrective actions are taken to maintain a healthy digester bacterial population.

    • Liaise with service and maintenance staff to implement planned and corrective maintenance activities are carried out

    • Manage operational contractors (principally waste disposal/recycling contractors but also equipment hire etc.). 

    • Provide a point of contact with site to assist with any potential issues and advise on ways and means to alleviate issues

    • Ensure any specific requirements and/or demands from the client are met.

    • Accurately document the operational and support level to ensure that the operations team meet the T&C’s of the operational contract. 

    • Ensure all defects and issues are reported and dealt with in a timely manner, liaise with the Service Support Manager to plan necessary works.

    Maintenance

    • Ensure scheduled, routine and breakdown maintenance tasks are carried out.

    • Monitor plant reliability and identify and resolve recurring issues, ensure adequate spare parts inventories and emergency contractor callout plans are in place to achieve good reliability.

    • Manage maintenance contractors

    The plant operates 24 hours a day and some out-of-hours shift work will be required.  

    The Plant Manager will be able to contribute to writing plant operating and maintenance manuals and site procedures.

    • Process and Operational Experience essential.

    • Excellent Microsoft skills, in particular excel 

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

    • Strong organisational skills and ability to react to suit operational support requirements

    • Must be able to organise time effectively and prioritise tasks to cope with fluctuating workloads.

Anaerobic Digestion Plant Operational Technician

Department: Plant Specific

Reporting to: Plant Manager

Salary: £32,000

Location: Bangley Biogas, Bangley Quarry, Haddington, EH41 3SP

An AD Plant Operational Technician (Anaerobic Digestion Plant Operational Technician) is a professional responsible for the operation and maintenance of AD plants.

    • Liaise with Plant Manager to ensure daily site checks and routines are maintained to ensure the site remains both compliant with EPR (Permit) and maintains operational performance.

    • Day to day plant operations

    • Accepting waste when it arrives to site, loading the waste into the de-packaging process using a front-end loading shovel/telehandler.

    • Moving materials around the site using mobile plant

    • Controlling the delivery trucks bringing waste to site, helping them in and out of the tipping hall. Offloading vehicles with a forklift truck.

    • Some first line maintenance to help maintain pumps, pipework and process.

    • Washing and cleaning around site as necessary.

    • Conduct routine maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and biological systems within the plant.

    • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed to minimise downtime

    • Process and Operational Experience desired but not essential.

    • Be familiar with computer-controlled plant operation.

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • A positive flexible attitude and able to work shifts.

    • A telehandler or forklift truck licence is desired, but training will be given if you don't have an active licence.

    • A hands-on and proactive approach

    • A basic understanding of Health and Safety requirements at work

    • A willingness to work hard, be adaptable to business requirements and to assist operations when overtime is required.

    • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.

    • An ability to manage your own time effectively and the ability (after training) to problem solve independently
